School Issues

School can be tough for adolescents nowadays. In addition to meeting academic demands, your teenager may also need to navigate social norms, try to fit in with their peer groups, and figure out who they are at the same time. While school can be filled with a lot of learning and growth opportunities for your teenager, it can also bring them overwhelming stress and struggles, particularly so if there are high expectations from family.

Adolescents often struggle emotionally when they don’t feel they belong to any of the peer groups in school, when they suffer from low self-esteem, or when they feel overwhelmed by the amount of school work, intense competition among peers, or bullying. Academic performance tends to suffer when these emotional issues are not addressed. Procrastination, a lack of motivation, and school refusal can be part of the picture.

If your teenager is struggling with any of these issues, we can help you identify reasons why things are hard for them and come up with a treatment plan that best addresses their needs.
